World Penguin Day

Happy World Penguin Day! Avery and Masa love these lovable seabirds.  Check out these adorable emperor penguins! They look like best buds.  Did you know that after a few months, young emperor penguins leave the shelter of their parent's brood puches and stack in chick groups called creches? This allows the adults time to go fish.

Did you know there are 5 different species of rhinos?

Did you know there are 5 different species of rhinos?

  • White Rhino
  • Black Rhino
  • Javan Rhino
  • Greater One Horned Rhino
  • Sumatran Rhino

Long ago they were widespread across Africa's savannahs and Asia's tropical forests.  But today very few rhinos survive outside reserves and national parks.  The Javan, Sumatran and black rhinos are all critically endangered.  Successful conservation efforts have helped the greater one horned rhino to increase in number.  Their status was changed from endangered to vulnerable, but sadly the species is still poached for their horn.  We must all work together to end poaching once and for all!

Save the Elephants

Save the Elephants

Every 15 minutes, an elephant is killed for its ivory - and this cruel, gruesome practice could drive the species to extinction within a generation.  The Sarara Initiative, a model of sustainable community-based conservation, is working toward the security for elephants and people.

Avery and Masa love the work the Sarara Initiative is doing to help save the elephants.  Together we can all work towards conservation of the endangered!
